PRODUCT

MIKE HYDRO Basin

MIKE HYDRO Basin is a multipurpose, map-based decision support tool for integrated water resources analysis, planning and management of river basins. MIKE HYDRO Basin is designed for analysing water sharing issues at international, national, or local river basin scale. It’s a comprehensive yet simple product for investigating options and making reliable decisions.

The conceptual modelling approach for water resource evaluations as implemented in MIKE HYDRO Basin allows you to conduct a diversity of management and planning-related applications. MIKE HYDRO Basin is the ideal software for multisector solution alternatives to water allocation and water shortage problems, climate change impact assessments on water resources availability and quality, exploration of conjunctive groundwater and surface water usage, optimisation of reservoir and hydropower operations, evaluation and improvement of irrigation scheme performance and integrated water resources management (IWRM) studies.

This five-module self-paced course will teach you the necessary skills to use MIKE HYDRO Basin to conduct water resource planning without limits.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

This course is right for you if:

  • You are an engineer, hydrologist or water resources manager
  • You work with water planning, water management or water infrastructure
  • You are interested in applying state-of-the-art tools to support holistic water-related decisions
  • You are curious about how MIKE HYDRO Basin can help you make better decisions
  • You need an overview of the MIKE HYDRO Basin software and how to use its basic functions

WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to set up and run your very first model in MIKE HYDRO Basin. You will learn:

  • Set up model files, select various modules and define simulation periods
  • Work with rivers, catchments, reservoirs, hydro-powers and water users editor and parametrise models
  • Create reservoir simulation models and analyse water allocation scenarios
  • Develop irrigation models and calculate irrigation water demands and expected crop output
  • Check model results such as reservoir levels, water users demand and deficit, irrigation water demand, downstream flood release from reservoir, and more

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Each module includes videos, materials that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around three hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements – in the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.
